Conduit Boxes

The Conduit X1 and X4 are high performance serial data boxes optimized for film equipment. They have been designed for use with the Glassmark II Encoder, and provide it power, PoE, and network frame sync. However, they can also be used with other interfaces and protocols in the future.

  • The Serial Ports 1-3 are used for Glassmark II encoders. They use 115200 baud RS232 which can be run up to 8 meters. They provide 5V power out through the LEMO.
  • The Navigation Joystick is used to navigate the onscreen menu. Click it in to select.
  • The The USB port is used for firmware updates and network configuration. It can also power the device when PoE or Ext is not providing power.
  • The PoE port provides network communication, and when used with an injector or PoE switch can provide power. It is IEEE STD 802.3 - 2012 compliant and supports both PoE and PoE+ voltages.
  • The EXT Port is an additional serial port that additionally offers a power input of 9-48vdc.

Network Setup

We recommend using DHCP when possible for ease of setup, however you can manually specify network parameters by altering the internal config file. The steps are as follows:

  1. Disconnect all encoders, ethernet, and EXT ports.
  2. Press and hold the navigation joystick down while plugging the USB cable into a PC.
  3. The Conduit will enter Mass Storage Mode and your PC will see it as a removable drive
  4. Open "settings.xml" with a text editor and make your changes. You can use an online XML editor to make this process easier, I.E. https://jsonformatter.org/xml-editor
  5. Save the file and restart as normal.
